Each region page covers the common conditions we treat, the full menu of treatment options, and a short FAQ.

Knee

From a popped ACL on the field to arthritis that aches on the stairs, your knee deserves a straight answer and a clear plan. At JOI you see a double board-certified sports surgeon directly, with in-office imaging and an honest take on whether you need surgery or whether smarter, lower-risk options come first.

Hip

Hip pain in active adults is rarely just getting older. A pinch in the front of the hip, a deep ache after sitting, or a catch when you pivot often points to something specific and treatable. At JOI you see a double board-certified sports surgeon who performs hip arthroscopy, with in-office imaging and an honest take on whether you need a procedure or whether smarter, lower-risk options come first.

Shoulder

Shoulder reconstruction is Dr. Smith's clinical focus, so a shoulder that aches at night, catches overhead, or keeps slipping out is exactly what JOI is built for. You get fellowship-level shoulder expertise, in-office imaging, and an honest plan that starts with the least invasive option that works.

Foot & Ankle

That sharp stab in your heel with the first step out of bed, a rolled ankle that will not settle, or an Achilles that aches every run. Foot and ankle pain can quietly take over your day. JOI builds a plan around getting the tissue to heal, with drug-free options first and surgery only when it is genuinely needed.

Elbow

Nagging pain on the outside of the elbow that flares when you grip, lift, or shake hands is usually a healing problem, not just an inflammation problem. That distinction changes the whole approach. JOI focuses on getting the tendon to heal rather than chasing relief with one cortisone shot after another.

Hand and Wrist

A hand that goes numb at night, a finger that catches and locks, or a wrist that aches with every grip. Hand problems are easy to live around until they are not. JOI treats them surgeon-led from the first visit, with honest guidance on what will actually help and what you can skip, including wide-awake WALANT surgery when an operation is the answer.

Spine & Back

Most back and neck pain never needs surgery. At JOI you get a straight, surgeon-led evaluation of what is actually driving your pain, then a clear non-surgical plan built around hands-on physical therapy. Dr. Smith evaluates and manages spine and back complaints conservatively, and when an operation truly is the answer, coordinates a referral to a trusted spine surgeon. We are direct about what we treat here and what is better handled by a spine specialist.

The JOI way

One surgeon, one plan, one clear price

No matter the region, the model is the same: rapid access, in-office imaging when indicated, integrated physical therapy, regenerative options before the operating room, and surgery only when it is the right call.

JOI is out of network with commercial insurance. You pay the posted price up front. We provide an itemized superbill and can file out-of-network claims on your behalf, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.
